I love how the fruit trees don't all bloom all at once.... The blooming schedule in Spring is staggered, so there are always beautiful blossoms in different places and at different times. The protracted magic of the season...

I love this time of year where the cherry blossoms begin to fall .... And drift to the ground to accumulate like soft, pink snow...

So things are getting exciting here. We got the first pip on one of our incubated chicken eggs this morning! Today is day 20. The chick pips out a little chunk of shell so it can breathe (on side of egg near top of picture). From there, the chick will rest for up to 24 hours before resuming her exit plan from the egg. This is always suck a fun, magical time!

Got new chicks, I think they will be beautiful hens, and, hopefully, good layers!

This hydrangea was full of beautiful blooms last fall, probably should've trimmed it then, but, here we are, so I removed the dead canes, and trimmed back the rest, gee, I hope I didn't overdo it! I'll post later this year with blooms!

Broken branch on rhody , Closeup of the damaged branch , Rhody repair done

This Rhody had some damage from all that snow we had, most popped back up after it melted, had to take the loppers to this one, also trimmed up some of the low hanging branches.

We just put 24 eggs into our incubator... 12 each day. So in three weeks, it will be interesting to see what kind of mutt ugly cross breed chickens we get!

The rooster is a Barred Rock... The hens are Black Australorp, and Tetra Tints...

This should be fun... :-)

Look what I found hiding in a recess in one of the small structures on my property. I was out doing maintenance today and found this little guy ... After a bit, he flew away but was kind enough to let me take pictures first.... :)

I'm getting tired of buying used riding mowers... But yet I need a riding mower because of all the damage to my knee. I'm at  about the point in my life where I will not be able to use a push mower anymore. But every time I buy a used riding mower, I get ripped off.

So today I went to Lowe's and bought a brand new riding mower... This is a small model, with only a 30 inch cut. But that's exactly what I want. It will fit nicely in my barn, and I don't need much more than that. I will let you know how it works out!

It's been a very unusual winter. Usually, the Seattle area average is 14 inches of snowfall a year. And that's just an average... We really rarely see that.

This year, we are close to 30 inches total for this area. every time the weather man says we are just about done with the snow, we get hammered again. Yesterday we had nearly 4 inches. The day before, nearly 3 inches. And both days, a dusting was predicted.

It's been beautiful, and it's been interesting, and it's been fun. But I'm tired of it. Bring on Spring!
