Building new raised beds for 2017 garden
Having torn out the main garden and the pretty white pickets that have bordered it for the past 10 years, I'm now starting to build the raised beds in that same area.
The raised beds will be easier to maintain and with the kids now moved out on their own, I just don't need to grow as much.
As you can see in the photo, I'm leaving room to be able to easily add another six inches of height to the beds down the road but for now, six inches will be enough. The beds are being built over some of the most fertile ground in Kitsap County - literally.
All the beds will be interconnected, joining to one continuous three-foot-wide strip on the north side. Each bed will be separated by nearly three feet of ground, giving me room to get in there to do weeding and other maintenance.
