Bees are doing well in week 7
This is week 7 with the new hive of honeybees. They are doing extremely well. I added a second deep super several weeks ago but on inspection last week, they hadn't moved into it. There was a lot of burr comb between the supers, though. I removed the burr comb and put it all back together.
On inspection today, they are actively drawing out foundation on several of the frames in the top deep super. So things are looking good. I think I will let them go for a few weeks and check back later about adding a honey super. Just going to bide by time for now ... let them build up their winter reserves.
Like the mayor of Seattle, Ed Murray, says ... "I don't have a plan. I'm just making this up as I go." He was talking about his job. I am talking about beekeeping, something that I'm brand new to. So far, I'm making it up just right. Because I have a good support network of friends who are doing the same thing.
